LPI Certificate

The Linux Professional Institute (LPI) makes it their business to develop internationally recognized standards in quality for Linux systems and Open Source software. The overall goal is to support and promote professional dealings with said software.

As part of this year's Chemnitzer Linux Tage, the LPI offers certification and univention-examination:

LPI Linux Essentials Exam 60 € German or English
LPIC-1: System Administrator
Exam 101 90 € German or English
Exam 102 90 € German or English
LPIC-2: Linux Engineer
Exam 201 90 € German or English
Exam 202 90 € German or English
LPIC-3: Linux Enterprise Professional
Prüfung 300: Mixed Environment 90 € English
Prüfung 303: Security 90 € English
Prüfung 304: Virtualization and High Availability 90 € English
Univention Professional Certificate (LPI 198) 85 € English

Please choose a language during registration. Prices are in addition to the admission fees. The fee can only be paid in cache.


The exams take place on Sunday, 12.03.2017, at 10:30am and at 1:00pm in Room VR. All participants are asked to arrive at least 15 minutes prior


The examination will be written on paper. Results will be sent via email approximately four weeks later. In case of achieving a new certification level, you receive the official papers via mail.


All participants need a valid LPI-ID and a valid photo-id. If you don't have a valid LPI-ID you can get one at https://cs.lpi.org/caf/Xamman/register

Please revise all relevant content before taking the exam.

Reminder: In order to achieve the LPI Level 1, you need to pass the exams 101 and 102. In order to achieve level 2 you need the exams 201 and 202 additionally. Passing only one of these exams will not grand you a certificate. However, for a level 3 certificate it is sufficient to pass one of the offered level 3 exams.


Due to a limited capacity of the examination room, it is necessary for you to register for the exam.
