20 years of CLT, Calls started

Dear Fans of Linux and Open Source,

The essentials in brief:

… and in detail:

We are a bit excited. At least, we're preparing for the Chemnitzer Linux-Tage for the 20th time. Therefore, at the 10th and 11th of March 2018 there will be a reason to celebrate. But before the party starts, we have to build our program: From now until the 8th of January, we are looking forward to numerous submissions of lectures, workshops and contributions for the exhibition space in our Linux-Live-area.

Our new slogan is „Everyone starts once.“

We started 20 years ago in 1999 and want to look back now. Our speakers are welcome to look back, too: Beside basic issues about free software / GNU/Linux, we are interested in project evolution. Motivation and engagement are not always enough to bring an idea to success. Adjacent to technical issues, there are also interpersonal and organizational challenges to deal with. Successful or not – the resulting learning processes provide valuable experience to the community.

Of course we are looking foreward, above all. With this year's motto we want to encourage first-time users as well as users who want to change. Therefore, contributions that show how easy it is to just sit down and get started are just as welcome as contributions for „CLT-Junior – Technology is Fun“. Our young visitors from ten years on always put their heart and soul in it and shall be inspired again with a proper program.

Since 2010 server-manufacturer Thomas Krenn supports special open-source-projects with hardware. The coveted prize will be awarded during the Chemnitzer Linux-Tage for the third time. Interested candidates can apply for the award until 15th of February 2018 on the company’s website.

Already we would like to point out some of the event’s accomodation possibilites. You can find web links to hostels and hotels at our website. Because of decreasing requests and a huge variety of alternatives we will not offer the possibility for Indoor-Camping this year. We are sure there will be opportunities to chill with the community otherwise.
