CZ.NIC, the domain registry of the Czech Republic, is actively involved in the development of open source projects, such as Bird, our routing daemon, which operates most Internet exchange points in the world, and the Knot DNS server, which is the fastest authoritative DNS server in the world.

In addition to other successful open source products, we also operate our Turris Wi-Fi router. These routers are based on the Linux distribution OpenWrt with some additional features, such as the dynamic firewall sentinel, which detects potential threats on the Internet and provides the router’s firewall with dynamic updates, significantly reducing malicious potential. The hardware is completely developed by us and the production takes place on site in the Czech Republic. We also make the schematics publicly available so you can study them. For the oldest, no longer sold router, we even published all the data needed for production. The entire development is also public on our GitLab and everyone can contribute to it.

Visit us at our booth and talk to us about our routers or the software that CZ.NIC develops!

Sponsor-Logo: Genode Labs

Genode Labs

Genode Labs GmbH is the driving force behind the Genode OS framework, a completely redesigned open-source operating system technology for the security, robustness, and scalability of modern, dynamic systems. Since its founding in 2008, our company has collaborated with customers and partners worldwide on the development of pioneering products ranging from embedded devices to mobile workstations. As a component-based system designed according to the principle of least privilege, Genode breaks with many concepts that we take for granted in traditional operating systems. Instead, it takes a novel approach to composing system scenarios from building blocks that are able to work together without absolute mutual trust. These building blocks, or components, include not only applications but also all classic operating system functions such as kernels, device drivers, file systems, and protocol stacks. These principles are particularly exemplified by the Genode-based Sculpt OS, which is not derived from an existing operating system, but approaches established concepts such as the installation, configuration, and launch of programs from a new perspective. All information about our open-source technology can be found at www.genode.org.
