Turris et al. by CZ.NIC
CZ.NIC, the domain registry of the Czech Republic, is actively involved in the development of open source projects, such as Bird, our routing daemon, which operates most Internet exchange points in the world, and the Knot DNS server, which is the fastest authoritative DNS server in the world.
In addition to other successful open source products, we also operate our Turris Wi-Fi router. These routers are based on the Linux distribution OpenWrt with some additional features, such as the dynamic firewall sentinel, which detects potential threats on the Internet and provides the router’s firewall with dynamic updates, significantly reducing malicious potential. The hardware is completely developed by us and the production takes place on site in the Czech Republic. We also make the schematics publicly available so you can study them. For the oldest, no longer sold router, we even published all the data needed for production. The entire development is also public on our GitLab and everyone can contribute to it.
